Default Humber Command Staff Car

About 2 months ago there was a Humber Command Staff Car listed on eBay. Does anyone know the name and address (location) of the buyer?

Thanks!

Default 1938 Humber

The first photo of the Humber you show is the one i bought about 8 weeks ago, from a guy in our club barn [Essex MVT] is a 1938 Humber Pullman used as a staff car in WW2. We have done a lot of work on it, and it will have a new paint job on it soon. The photo of it was taken a few years ago.

Default Ex film star?

Keith, is the car ex-Richard Beddall? On 15th April, 1989, Richard had an auction of various military vehicles and collectors cars. One of them was a Humber Pullman with split screen and military wide wings and wheels. I've dug out the catalogue and it says this:

1938 Humber Super Snipe/Pullman Staff Car. Went to Israel in 1987 and starred in the Agatha Christie film (with Michael Winner as Director and Jenny Seagrave (sic) and Peter Ustinov). It took Sir John Mills to his 80th birthday party in London in 1988. In 1977 it starred in the film 'Ike'. Apart from many other films, it has been to Normandy and Belgium in recent years. It led the parade in Normandy in front of HM The Queen in 1984. Needs some engine work - V5 available - very rare. Estimate £3,500.

I guess the Agatha Christie film was 'Appointment with Death' with Jenney Seagrove.

At the same auction another Humber was also offered - a 1940 Super Snipe. I've not heard what became of it. It was a complete rolling chasis with front end metalwork up to and including the scuttle and windscreen (flat screen), wide wings and wheels. Perhaps it became the basis for this:

Shame!

Default Humber staff car

Hi all,

the ex-Higgins Humber is now in a possesion of my friend Vilem. It was truly a wreck when he bought it. We managed to get all the spares needed during our 3 visits of the UK including the engine, axles, brakes, sunroof, and all the other bits that were missing. The car is 99% complete now as far as the original spares are concerned. The car is still under restoration and hopefully will be on the road next year in Czechoslovak Independent Armoured Brigade Group markings.

Default 1938 Humber

We just about got back from Arnhem this year 2010, drinking lots of water and oil pressure down to 20, so the engine had to come out and sent to a workshop for a rebuild. I sold my 1944 Morris C8 GS to fund this.

Hi keith this looks like a big job to do, good luck.
To bad you had to sell the morris. Are you going to do some jobs yourself or does the workshop do the complete engine rebuild.
cheers jaap

Maybe E mail him and ask what happened to it.
