Default Ford 11/12 cab for sale (Aust.)

All the info I've got is in the pics, been there for at least 3 months, (thats when I first went past it anyway). This trip I took the camera.

Default Cab 12

Yes, I've been eyeing that one too... spotted it a couple of months ago - it is fairly battered but has a few good bits still on it.

It's a cab 12 F60L.

Default # 12

I think that's an ex-British order or assembled F60L supplied under S/M 2019, then issued and sold to the AIF. Nice find!

Could be but I think you'll find this is a direct Australian delivery, not an Ex-British one as witnessed by the locally fitted roof hatch. The manufacturer's serial is 7455, engine/chassis 2G 459412F. It seems only the later batches of Australian delivery F60L cab 12s had a S/M stamped on the data plate. Found S/M numbers I've seen on these cab 12s are usually S/M 2037 with one 2126 and Hugh Thompson has a plate from a cab 12 with S/M 2019 but unfortunately the truck was long gone which means we won't know whether it had a roof hatch or not. Happy as ever to stand corrected though!

Default S/m 2037

G'day Keith! S/M 2037 included three-ton 4x2 Fords, and also C60L and CC60L, so I guess that they were FC60L. There was a suggestion that the Chassis & Cab were supplied under S/M 2019, and then assembled in Dagenham under S/M 2037, and local contract 294/VS/4784, as EC018Q. However I think now that they were a run-on contract (Demand) for S/M 2019 then 2037 (2019 assembled under MofS contract 294/V/4288). Examples known of S/M 2037 F60L: Serial # 16869; Motor 2G47579F with "S/M OR C/D 2037" on the plate and Serial 16347; Motor 2G47755F; "S/M OR; C/D 2037". These, and the one mentioned, were all October 1941-built engines by the way (just checked!).

As to S/M 2126, this was a direct-Aussie delivery it seems. My notes say:
Quote:
Ford Model Number C018QF or C298QF [Australia] E.g. # 2G-7785F #12 [and # 13 cabs?] MIXED ORDER WITH CHEVROLET 8442 C60S? and e.g. Serial # 25847 Motor # 3G7862F & 25848 Motor # 3G7719F and 28378 Motor # 3G7838F Model F-60S used in ROVER armoured car and another F60S in Australia Serial:26984 Eng no: 3G6249F Model F60S S/M 2126 Date : 9.9.42 (Date of manufacture, assembly or delivery?)
