Hi All,
I have borrowed a TL marked aerial mast base (#2) designed to attach to the upper armour of english/canadian carriers. I have started the process of making reproductions of what I have. Please see attachments. Some parts of the complete unit are missing so I am only offering what i can reproduce. If anyone has samples of the "bump stop" , the "chain and spring" of the lower hook section I would like to here from you to discuss. I am seeking exspressions of interest from those interested in a reproduction if this item. Based on the response, I will price out a run of units for those interested. Kind regards Nigel Ward |

Hi again
Firstly for those of you who didn't know, expressions is spelt expressions NOT exspressions as I have spelt it. Secondly, I ment to write....... the "chain and spring" OR the "lower hook section" not........ 'OF the lower hook section". Sorry for this but I'm not that smart at the best of times let alone at midnight. and to finish, thanks for the interest so far. Kind Regards Nigel |

hi Nigel,
Hey, we have been looking for the toothed base plate forever ... we , I mean us PU 8 cwt wireless truck owners . I do have the upper section - the brass cup and the mushroom shaped insulator ..these are super rare items . The lower toothed base plate , your pic shows it , has turned up at last ! I'll tell Rory Ballard about this find of yours. I made some detailed drawings of the cup and insulator ..will try to locate tham and post here . Would be interested in any drawings or the actual repro toothed base plates Pics Mike

The base appears to be a generic fitment as it appears in many contemporary pics , fitted to various vehicles , including the early tanks and armoured cars. For some reason, although being a common bit of kit , virtually none of the bases have survived . The part example I have came via Perth, West Aust. of all places .. we think it may have arrived with the No. 1 sets just pre war , of which a very small quantity were despatched to Aust. and NZ.

Hi All
Please find photos attached of the first aerial base folded and welded. There are a couple of small issues to be ironed out but all in all I am happy with the result. In the production run I will include the 4 rivets holding the handle to the top plate and the welding will be oxy and not tig. A couple of minor adjustments with the laser cutting of the sections and all will be in order. On a sadder note, I am unable to work on the project for a couple of months as this Thursday I fly to Istanbul to start a driving holiday that will see me at the 65th D-day events. If any of you are attending the D-day events, please call in on our camp. Just ask for the mob of Australian ww2 vehicles camping with the MVT group. I'm driving a chev (blitz) cmp 4 x2 with 2 tone camo. I will be back home on the 24th of June and will kick off again once back. Sorry for this but I promise to confirm prices and availability once back. Kind Regards Nigel ![]() |

Nigel,
I guess that I may have picked up on this thread too late. I am interested in a repro WS11 aerial base to fit a MkI Humber LRC. I don't need the carrier mounting just the No2 Base complete with spring tensioner etc. Apologies if I am covering old ground, but I seem to be unable to view any of the attached thumbnails. Regards, Les. |

Hi Kevin and other long suffering aerial base owners.
Yep..well..umm...errr....yep. there coming. ![]() I have actually done something. I have had 10 sets cut out and they are in my shed as I type. further, I have spoken to friend of a friend who has a pan brake to do the bending. So, once there bent up all I need to do is oxy weld them up and install the rivets x4 to secure the arm to the base plate, ream the holes for the hinging points, play with them to make them work correctly, work out what they cost to make, hopefully not scare the hell out of those wishing to own one and send them to their new homes. Sooooo..please hang in there, they are coming. Kind Regards Nigel |
