Are Ford carb overhaul kits available in the UK mines a No 94 and do they come with a economizer valve in the kit ? Also need a pair of water pumps or are the overhaul kits worth a go at, will have to look stateside otherwise.

(An economizer valve is a valve in the carb that injects extra fuel into the engine above 75% throttle,to add extra power and keep the valves cool in a climb..when extra power is needed).. Usually found in aircraft carburators.. ![]() ![]()

Don't mean to be funny but never heard of it and I don't have an MB F1 any more ...I wonder if that valve had something to do with the Arctic winterization kit...?? Have to get The New Mr Manual to look that up.. It's a bad day when I can't learn something new..Thanks for bringing that up..Maybe we can all learn from it.. Red Faced Al.. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

It appears to be a contradiction at first ..a valve that allows more fuel into the flow, being called a economiser .
I know the series 1 Land Rover Solex PBI-2 has one , it operates on a vacuum principle, it opens/closes according to the vacuum present in the inlet manifold . A rubber diaphram is ported to the inlet manifold and a valve in its centre , with a spring , opens with low vacuum present. Something along those lines anyway !

I always thought that any old 94 type carb had an economizer valve. It opens up another passage when the vacuum drops and more fuel is needed. The economizer bit is for when the passage is closed and you get better economy. All Holley carbs use them too. The valve serves the same function as the metering rod setup on Carter and Rochester carbs.
