Default May be old news - T34

But I'd thought I'd post them anyway do let you know I wasnt idle with the Camera at Corowa.

As a kid I'd always heard the stories that made the T34 such a legendary tank.

I built a model and watched documentaries on it and thought that would be about as close as I would ever come to one.

Imagine my delight walking into Bandiana army musuem & seeing this. I wasnt at the Armoured vehicle Corowa but apparently this tank was there.

Anyway - some pictures - couldnt find any threads with T34 in the title either.

Default And more

Interesting to note the roughness of the casting in the turret. The Russians obviously punched them out in a hurry.

Which is no surprise considering the Nazi's got within 180 miles of Moscow within 2 weeks of launching operation Barbarossa.

The picture actually doesnt do it justice - it is really rough.

Despite this the tank actually has quite nice lines.

Default Err...... No

I did plead ignorance.........so no Keefy

Interesting to see this has the later 85mm gun with the two turret hatches, what the Germans called the 'Mickey Mouse'. The classic one I like has the earlier gun & is distinctive where the gun meets the turret.

I think I'll have to rectify that when I come to Temora in about three weeks.
