Default LAND ROVER 24V FFR Lightweight 88"

Hello
I am in the process of aquiring one of the above. Having never owned an FFR vehicle I wondered about the charger Generator does it run all the time or is it/ can be disconnected. I am un likeley to ever fit radio equipment so I was wondering if this is/can be by passed as I assume the vehicle has an Alternator to charge vehicle batteries?
I have tried to contact the Light weight owners club with out success as My Email address is not accepted. Any one PM me with a land address so once I get vehicle bought I can register and pay any subs
Thanks in advance for the help I know is out there
Stephen

Hi Stephen,

The 90 amp 24 volt alternator is the only generator on the vehicle, it can charge vehicle batts and radio batts, or just vehicle.

regards, Richard

never noticed those generators making any unusual noises, no difference to a 12 volt Land Rover I would say...., and have had many years experience of them.

Default Land Rover FFR

Thank you Richard
I have just spoken to the current owner of the vehicle and arranged to go and view it tomorrow. As its 40 years old I expect there will be some work required. I have spent most of today on line pricing major items so that when I actually view the vehicle I can work out what I am most likeley to need to do a rebuild. Once I own the truck I can get it home. Only then can I start in earnest making out a needs list, then a secondary Wish list
Regards Stephen

Default Richard

The fan on them is symetrical (like a siren fan) most alternators have an asymetrical fan ( for example Bosch alternators often have 3 larger blades on one side, balanced by four smaller ones on the other) because of this they "sing" Maybe you have spent too long at the range, using "Bilsom" in your ears. I'm sure other ex eme mechs know what i'm talking about.
