Hi all. Just want to say how glad I am to be on this forum.I have a MKII carrier that I have been working on over the winter.I have no shop space indoors so I have been working on small stuff during the winter.I have the engine, clutch and trans. all overhauled and ready to go except for paint. Now I am starting on the hull and suspension. There was some extra stuff welded on ,that I have cut off so far.All the upper armor is gone.My rad is 100% ! so says the rad shop. Most of the wheels are shot but the tracks and sprockets are OK.I drained the oil out of the diff. and there was no water at all so that looks good to go.I'll include some pics if I can.
Looking forward to learning more about carriers, as there is so much experience and knowledge here! http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier006.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier001.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...rrier010-1.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier069.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier070.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier021.jpg http://s352.photobucket.com/albums/r...Carrier045.jpg I hope these links work,I have many more pics, but chose the most revealing ones. |

hi dave
welcome to the forum, it's a nice project you've got yourself there and although there's a lot of armour to be fabricated it looks as though you have most of the small difficult to find parts already supplied with it. good luck with the resto eddy

Welcome to the forum..You are in the right place.. I noticed a yellow arrow pointing to a cap on the front plate..That is an access hole for the engine crank..a long one..that goes into a notched pulley on the end of the engine crank, shown in picture #Viewing 10 of 68..It should have a threaded brass cap on it... I'm pretty sure ..I'm going from memory on that but some one will know.. Anyway it looks good.. ![]() ![]()

Hi again,Richard,yes,it's the same one.
![]() Alex, thanks for the comments. I did not know they were brass. It took a while, but I know a couple guys near me who restored a carrier and they filled me in on what the fitting is for.Seemed very odd to me at first! ![]() I think George's thread below this one deals with the brass cap? Indeed, lots of armor missing. At least most of that is flat and square, but still lots of work. Thanks for the comments, guys, and I will keep you all posted on my progress and who knows, maybe I can help someone else at some time. |

The cap is steel. The large box is original kit. Good project.
