Paint colours have been discussed numurous time on the forum before ..some choose to have paint matched based upon a NOS part, some based on paint remains on their vehicle, some based on Mike Starmers descriptions and others choose a war paint from one of our parts suppliers.
About two weeks ago Hanno and I had a look at paint colours while enjoying a cup of coffee. Hanno brought a NOS blackout cover with a brown paint on the inside, as well as a few of Mike Starmers publications. I mixed up a number of colours with Humbrol/Revell hobby paints according to Mike Starmers description, took out a tin of "french" paint, a brown ammo box...and we had my C8, which still has some paint remains every here and there, believe it or not. Below you will find some pictures. As always the colours look different on the pictures, compared to what we see with our own eyes, but it give you an idea and most of all it shows how close the "French" "MAT 3" brown paint matches a sample of SCC2 mixed according to Mike Starmers Revell mix! A drop of red would probably do the trick... We believe a patch of paint on my C8 is Khaki Green 3, while the inside shows remains of SCC2 brown and a dark blue-green colour, which has still got me puzzeled.
