Here is a newly installed monument on the south side of highway 2 just past the Tims at the edge of the married quarters area.
Does anyone have any interior pictures of the traverse and elevation mechanism of the Canadian Cougars? Robin |

Robin, If you give me a month I will get you a few photos, I have a Cougar, Huskey and a Grizzly all fully operational including weapons systems.

I'll assume this post is to try and ID your traverse mech. I was able to ID it as NSN 2590-21-879-2204 and is used on the Grizzly according to the old CGCM. We are missing this gearbox on our Shilo Grizzly in case you get tired of tripping on it, or if somebody else has one to spare. |

actually the two postings, about the monument and the traverse mechanism are actually unrelated, their only connection is that they happened at the same time. Is the Grizzly powered traverse mechanism the same as the Cougar? R |

There has been one at ASU Chilliwack for the last 3 years or so, supposed to go to the BCDs in the Okanagan, but apparently they don't have a site or pad for it ready yet... Also, some M113s there being prepped for placement as monuments... Details forthcoming.

I doubt it. The Grizzly turret is a US-made Cadillac Gage (IIRC) .50 cal and C5 (beltfed M1919A4) dual machine gun turret. The Cougar is UK-designed Scorpion tank turret with the low pressure 75mm gun.

Terry is correct. Grizzly turret weight was 820kg., fully kitted w/crewman. Cougar is 1860kg., fully kitted w/crew. Weight difference necessitated a more robust mechanism.
Grizzly used a single speed traverse gearbox, Cougar had a variable speed gearbox made by Dunlop. Sorry, no pictures at this time. Perry |
