Gents I'm looking to complie some info on this trailer. I plan a 1/35 master for release ASAP and need all I can find. I have a few pictures off this site and from Greggs' book but could use some shots of the set up of the filters and pumps on the front and back. The makeup of the frame overall under the tank would help as well. Oh heck whatever I can get is a big help.
Any info greatly appreciated. Sean |

Wow, very nice to see a complete bowser. Please post more pictures, especially the filter layout. Higher resolution would be also nice.

Thanks , at first I had a copy box on the front , but walked into a real one years later , tires are still the original ones , and hold air , if you go to the earlier in this thread , you see the official wartime picture , and it has the same make and model tires on it , but I never came across a picture with a trailer with the canvas on . actually it looks odd with these 700x20 tires , the 900x16 fill the mudguards better.

It was built by Dominion Truck Equipment in 1944. 139830106_10159767620817788_463406294454207080_o.jpg 7CE6E01B-DC3E-4AC0-9F16-AF90DA90AD56.jpg 140048999_10159767658482788_4598898205214149094_o.jpg 140051575_10159767657802788_6708500265668980218_o.jpg 140040140_10159767644807788_5174408643094386826_o.jpg

Hello Ian and Maurice,
I am planning to build a 1:35 model of this water trailer. Would it be possible for you to give me some measurements of the chassis? I would like to know the total width and the height and width of the chassis profiles. I hope you can help. All the best Leon |

Please note I have cleaned up this thread by separating posts into two disctinct threads: British WW2 180 Gallon 20-cwt Bowsers restoration and Canadian 180-gal 20-cwt water trailer info.
There are are differences between the British and Canadian built watrer trailers. Although the Canadian trailers were built to the British design, they did differ in respects of methods of construction and parts like brakes etc. The latter were off Ford CMPs on Canadian built ones. The difference between the Canadian 15-cwt and 20-cwt is one or two extra cross members in the chassis and 20" (instead of 16") wheels on special adapters to fit the hubs.

Plus three pictures dated 1955 of the same type of trailer, modified to use the type of wheel with 9.00-16 tyre as used on post-war trailers of Dutch manufacture:

I'm not sure that water trailer is Canadian built. The drawbar arms are of different construction than any Canadian trailer that I have seen, and the hub caps are also wrong.

Rob, agree on the "open" draw bars, not seen before. They most likely swapped the axle for a new one with hubs to match the wheels during the upgrade. Maybe the chassis was damaged and was fitted with replacement draw bars?
The archive caption states "Waterzuiveringsinstallatie Dominion Truck Company" - or water purification installation (built by?) the Dominion Truck Company - as far as I know that is the company in Kitchener, Ontario which also built bodies for the FWD SU-COE MAT. They also built 6 ton 2 wheel GS semi trailers that I know of.

Normally the C channel used on the trailers has the flat side out. This one was built with the flat side in. I'll have to keep an eye on what's out there to see if there are others.

It seems both flat side out and in were done. Just google pictures of the Landmattress Rocket Launcher.
