Default Shepherds Crook ?

My neighbour has an item in his shed that looks very much like a UC track tensioner in shape and size but the bar that it is made from is not square but basically round with about eight or ten flats.

Were any of them made from that type of stock? If so what model carrier was it for and what is its value? It is for sale

70 views and no response. Seems that it's not the real deal then.

Hi Dave,

Not my field really, but perhaps it was a "local manufactured" tool by the army, hence why it is of different bar stock. A picture might help identify.

regards, Richard

The original crow bar is octagonal, This might lead one to the conclusion that some hook bars may have been made from the same stock.
Does it have a part number? (or any other markings)

There are no markings on the bar and having found a photo of an original, the shape is not quite right. I guess it looks similar because it has a similar function.

Thanks guys.
