CMP truck rear axle tapered washers.
Hi, Anyone knows were to get hold of a set of the 7/16 tapered washers used on the rear axles of cmp's for holding in the driveshafts?.

hi rob, what do they call them over there, i guessing taper washers but perhaps they have a special name, checked there website but come up blank.

What they are call is key to finding them
Hi
These are a common part used on trucks, the problem in finding them is to call them the right thing at the right place. A picture is very helpful in showing the guy at the parts counter at the heavy truck end of the auto parts store. There is an earlier thread on the same topic which as of yet I have not found maybe somebody else remembers. I think it had the modern part number for Dayton listed. Cheers Phil

One name I have seen for them is dowel washers, I've also seen them called split cones. The link below may be the thread Phil is remembering.....

The Timken axle assemblies used on the Studebaker US6 have these split cones and I have always known them as 'collets'.
I would imagine that the split diff (Timken again) CCKW would also use them. David
