I'm chasing a ford diff pinion to suit the axle that is used in the Aust bren carriers and also found in the ford blitz trucks. My pinion has had 2 teeth chipped as seen in the pictures and im replacing as a result. If anyone has a NOS or a reasonable condition pinion they would like to part with, please message me.
Kind regards, Nathan

Pinions and crown wheels come as a matched set so that is what you should be looking for. Even a used one you should keep them running together. regards, Richard

Hi Nathan, you could try and build it up and grind with the oxy and hard facing rod as it is not a lot missing. Failing that, I think I may have a 2nd hand one if you want to try it.

You don't specify the model or year of your carrier needing the pinion, there were changes throughout production. Also count the teeth, as there were two different ratios fitted, 5.83:1 and 6.16:1, as well as two styles of pinion flange (splined or keyway). No Blitz R&P was common with carriers, the closest was the F15A with 6.5:1 or the F15 with 6.66:1, although the Ford MCP and Civvy trucks also had 5.83 ratios.

The Aussie carriers are usually 6.66:1, with a few of them being 5.83:1.
The 5.83 has 6 teeth on the pinion, and 35 on the crown wheel. The 6.66 has 6 teeth on the pinion and 40 on the crown wheel. As Tony says, the LP2 has a splined pinion, while the LP2A has a taper and key type pinion. Yours is the LP2A, and my guess, a 6.66:1 ratio.

Yeah sorry for the lack of detail. Pinion is out of 2838 which is 1942 manufacture so the pinion is 6.66:1 and obviously tapered key type.
