Normandy 17 pdr

Just returned from our Normandy trip so I have posted a couple of pics.
The 17 pdr at Pegasus Memorial museum along side the original bridge ,all of the external exhibits outside the museum were renovated for the 70th anniversary and I must say who ever did the work carried out a very good job indeed.
Two pics ,before and after show a 17pdr being towed through the small town of Creully during the liberation by the Canadians.
Finally the old stead parked at Asnelles with Mulberry in the background.

I will be bringing home an extremely rare Artillery piece this week so pics posted when I have it !

I realise living so close to Normandy and the invasion beaches that its easy to say but anyone who has always wanted to visit it really is the best and biggest open air museum in the world and I highly recommend it as there is so much to see not to mention paying respects to those who fell on June 6 and there after.

Rob, Interesting machine towing the 17pdr, looks like an adapted ammo carrier from a crusader hull perhaps?. Someone will know.

I believe it is a Crusader II 17 Pdr tractor with wading sides attached pretty much how it came off the landing craft. I think only a small number of crusaders were converted to the 17 pdr tractor role although armour is not my strong point so I'm sure I will be put right !!!
