Angus Shops production after Valentines?
Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows what the CPR Angus Shops produced during the war after the production of Valentines was complete in 1943? Did it go back to civilian production? |

Angus was the main CPR garages for many years after the war. It is a brownfield site now, so eventually everything stopped being produced!

Hi Chris.
The CPR Angus Shops were involved in the production of munitions throughout World War Two. Have no idea what type(s) of munitions were involved, but production was underway both during and after the production of Valentines. The CPR had three main shops across Canada. In addition to the munitions, I believe the Angus shops also built a number of different engine systems for naval vessels. Their shops in Calgary built guns for the Navy, both Commonwealth and the US Navy throughout the war. The CPR shops in Winnipeg took over the CPR’s railway production during the war, locomotives and cars. Hope this helps. David |
