Very lucky to have great friends lending a hand to keep projects on the go...even less than glamorous projects like spending a day cleaning 40 plus years of dirt, oil, diesel and Persian Gulf sand out of the engine bay of an Iraqi tank...not sure I can express how grateful I am to have the terrific friends I have...and thanks to all who continue to express best wishes and support...Very much appreciated

But did you check the fuel tank for a buildup of gold bars?

Let me put this to rest once and for all...my tank was obviously crewed by very honest or perhaps very unmotivated Iraqi tankers...It's brief trip to Kuwait in the early 90's appears to have been strictly for sightseeing...Now Nick Mead's tank in the UK was clearly piloted by either crooked and or more motivated tankers not to mention possibly the best welders in the Persian Gulf. I have seen the extent of Iraqi welding...how should I put it...not their finest skill...but the fellows that welded up the external fuel tank...yes...FUEL TANK...on Nick's tank did such a great job it went unnoticed for almost 26 years give or take...You would think sometime over the next 20 years after it's brief holiday in Kuwait, someone may have tried to put fuel in that gold laden tank...and it is a testament to the welding prowess of these tankers that instead of leaking fuel everywhere and being sent to the trash heap...it managed to hold and retain it's treasure! One thing we did discover in the tank was a bag of magic beans if anyone is interested...I will sell them cheap!

I suspect that it is not possible for our friends from Australia and NZ to import magic beans due to regulations about organic matter. Sorry guys. Have these magic beans been tested for health and safety implications and what specific powers do they have I wonder?
The Nick Mead gold bars story was originally an April fools joke but got picked up by the press who published it some time later without engaging their brains first. David |
