Default TMAPC Dodge T110 D60

Hello everybody!
I try my first post on this forum, which I visited from time to time, for quite some time !

I wanted to share with you few pictures of Dodge T110 in 1944 !
10 years ago, knowing my interest in WWII, my neighbor at the time introduced me to her Dad (unfortunately died since ), who told me he spent one year driving trucks, including a Dodge T110, in a motor transport regiment created by the Free French Forces in August 1944, to help the liberated populations (humanitarian aid convoys), within the T.M.A.P.C. !

Refusing to leave to Germany for the STO (Service du Travail Obligatoire), he hides in Brittany until the arrival of the Allied Armies.
Brittany partly liberated, he enlisted in one of the first created French transport companies, which later became the M.T.C. (Military Transport Companies), in the English combat zone, and the F.T.G. (French Truck Groups), in the American combat zone. , ultimately forming the 5 regiments of the “Transports Militaires Automobiles pour les Populations Civiles” (T.M.A.P.C.)(military motor transport for civilian populations).
From his "travels", as a driver at the Company 101 of the 1st Automobile Regiment "Bretagne", he brought back 12 photos of these Dodge. Like most drivers, he had fond memories of the “Big Dodge”, a very reliable and rarely broken down vehicle.

In these photos, the drivers are dressed in American uniforms and the Dodge T110 of the Company 101 of the 1st Automobile Regiment wear American markings.

What is surprising is the code "M.G.T.P. ", on the right side of the front bumper, while the vehicles are supposed to be part of the" French Truck Group "(F.T.G.) ! Was there a provisional name before T.M.A.P.C.? What does it correspond to ?
In the center, the number of Company 101 and the number 3A (?), maybe for "3rd Army" (US?) or for "3rd Automobile (Battalion)" !
On the left side, the serial number of the vehicle (repeated above the windshield).

On the right wing, the 7 ton load plate ... and the letters CA , what do they correspond to ? "Automobile Company" ? Is it french or english code ?
On the sides of the hood, the truck serial number preceded by the letter X for "vehicle out of category" or "foreign vehicle".
And the medium white stars on the doors and the left front fender.

T.M.A.P.C. trucks traveled 1,200,000,000 km in 12 months, across Europe, and transported 1,765,000 tons (metric) of goods.
They served many liberated countries: France, but also Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, Italy, Poland, Czechoslovakia.
But they also had to repatriate, from April 1945, prisoners of war, deportees, displaced populations, recovered objects stolen by the Nazis, etc ... and transported, exceptionally, soldiers to the front lines, as in Bastogne during the Ardennes counterattack.

From separate formation, M.T.C. and F.T.G. had a different aspect.
The men of M.T.C., trained and dressed by the British, have acquired this meticulous method and this rigorous correction which characterizes them.
The men of the F.T.G., trained and dressed by the Americans, adapted to the dynamic processes and the relaxed allure of the G.I.

DEFINITIVE WORKFORCE OF T.M.A.P.C.

FTG 1st Régiment Automobile BRETAGNE 12 Companies 600 trucks (101 to 112)
FTG 2nd Régiment Automobile NORMANDIE 12 Companies 600 trucks (201 to 212)
FTG 3rd Régiment Automobile ANJOU 7 Companies 350 trucks (301 to 307)
FTG 5th Régiment Automobile PARIS 12 Companies 600 trucks (501 to 512)
MTC 4th Régiment Automobile MAINE 15 Companies 750 trucks (401 to 415)
************************************************** *************

Good visit
Frank

Frank,
Welcome to the forum and thank you for showing us those great photos. Please thank your neighbour from us.
I love your observation about the different character of the MTC and FTG cultures.
I note that the Dodges had only one original headlight (LH) but that some had an extra, small headlight fixed above the bumper to the right of centre.
