Hallo
I'm am not 100% sure, Dirk, but it looks very much like the end-piece for a set of barrel cleaning staves for a tank. While serving on Cougar AVGP's here in the early 1980's I had such an item in my gun cleaning kit. Cougars had a 76mm gun (Same as a Scorpion Light Tank). The more I look at it, the more I say it's a part of a British (or Cdn) barrel cleaning set. Hope that is of some help. regards Darrell ![]() |

OK, I did a little looking around the QM's today and altho' we no longer have Cougars or their staves sets, I can confirm that your pic is and exact duplicate of what we were using to clean the 76mm.
Obviously the # is different on our recent past handles but the wood, brass, and design are EXACTLY the same as your pic. You know how the Army is; if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!! regards Darrell ![]() |

Makes me wonder, though if those marvelous tools cost as much, proportionally, figuring there were few made, as the infamous coffee makers for C130s and their attendant toilet seats during the Reagan Administration here in the states.
And yes, I am in a bit of a pissy mood tonight.
