| HMS Nabob - The First Canadian manned Aircraft Carrier

On This Day in 1944 - read more in the link below. And there’s a Dutch connection http://www.royalnavyresearcharchive....CORT/NABOB.htm “22 August 1944 Canadian-manned Lend-lease Ruler-class Escort Carrier HMS Nabob heavily damaged from a single torpedo from submarine U-354 in Barents Sea during Operation Goodwood. Returned to Scapa Flow under own power, then towed to Rosyth, beached in Forth and abandoned, later cannibalised for spares. Post-war sold for scrap by USN but rebuilt in Rotterdam as mercantile Nabob and eventually scrapped in 1977.” 499B7F46-5470-408E-9342-2AF69340544F.jpeg
