Reference: Generator 6V for C15TA/ Otter/ C60X

This was a "wanted" ad originally - moved it here for future reference:


Urgently need a 6V generator, either NOS/ rebuilt or rebuildable. Or: an armature to rebuild the one which packed up last weekend.

Part numbers (for First Jobs with 6V generator):
Generator Assy: 1105865
Armature, generator: 1887047

Preferably in or close to the Netherlands, as I need to have my C15TA running before 1 May. Please contact me via email, and/or leave a reply below.

Any tips are welcome! I have sent this request to the usual suppliers/ dealers - this wanted ad is specifically aimed at individuals who may have GMC 270 cu.in. engine spares for C15TA/ Otter/ C60X.

There is a good chance that armature is specifically for that model of generator. My thoughts are there will be other armatures that would be identical other then having a shorter shaft for a single pulley.

With the help of Alex and his GMC manuals I’ve come to the conclusion that the armature is the same as the part numbers are the same (famous last words?).
So, I will be ordering a NOS GMC generator and swap over the pulleys

I have plenty of Ford V8 ones, even NOS , so not much help to you, cheers Andrew.

I attempted a google search for "Delco 1887047" and it came up with numerous results including: https://www.ebay.com/itm/273813924875

You may not need to purchase a complete generator but your deadline of 1 May is certainly a factor.

Thanks for the links, Colin. There is a healthy supply of GMC CCKW parts still in Europe, so it was quite easy to find a generator here. According to the info I have the pulley should swap over, otherwise I will run it with one V-belt for the time being. I'll post an update later.
