When Karmann-Ghia posted her photo, and then Mr. Cox did also (apparently now lost due to computer bafflegab stuff), it reminded me of a thread on the "old" forum whereby Keith Webb of Australia suggested all regular users post their pics as a way of getting to match the face with the image.
Keith made this suggestion after visiting Jif in the Zephyrian Highlands. Several other MLUers were at the bacchanal, and several pictures were taken. It seems awfully suspicious to me that Jif quietly squashed any attempt to accomplish this seemingly favourable endeavour. The answer for Jif's untoward inaction suddenly occurred to me. I have some compromising pics of him taken during the Saturday night bash and I'm sure Jif would have been petrified, nay, mortified, to have his "other half" exposed on the net to all MLUers. Comments, Jif...or anyone else? ![]() ![]() ![]()

What if I were to create a "Rogue's Gallery" here... would THAT get me off the hook?

Geoff could kill a lot of birds with one AA shell if someone was sober enough to have taken a pic of all of us sitting in the beer tent at the OMVA show last August......
![]() Don Classic OMVA Show moment: Don and Bob Carriere are rooting thru the box of an 8 cwt out back of the museum when Don is attacked by an enemy aircraft, later ID'd as a wasp with an attittude problem. Tears streaming from his eyes, the bugger hit Don right in the moustache...resulting in one very swollen lip. Bob C, standing nonchalantly beside him, quips with a grin, "Jeez Don, better put a beer on that !" ![]() |

Man, you wouldn't believe how anxious I have been to see your response, you being there and witnessing this degrading slide of our Sunray into the arms of Morpheus. Some host, eh? ...and not even a breakfast of Vegemite and toast the next morning! Well...I've had (1) dare; (1) double dare...I'm sure that if Michael Dorosh comes in with a triple dare, then we have ignition! Sunray: defend yourself ( not that that's entirely possible). More to follow, wait, out.

In the arms of Morpheus indeed... but what was it that led him into those sleepy arms, might I ask?
Hint: It wasn't the vegemite - but it might have had something to do with the singing of the Lumberjack song...

ON a side note, a "Rogues Gallery" would be nice... good to put a face to everyone's name. Even better if that face was sitting in, beside, on or amongst the vehicles we love....kind of a way to get to know each other, and what "drives" us....pun intended!! hehehe.... Tim |

First of all, MLUers, this is one posting which got "lost" during server update.
Dave: what's with the brown job seated in front of you? Why is he wearing a nametag where ribbons should go? Or did some naval killock reverse the image?

Ok Jon, here goes.
The 'brownjob' in front of me is a Marine Cadets Sergeant instructor. The Marine Cadets (nicknamed Bootnecks just like their regular cousins) are part of the Sea Cadet Corps, but wear Royal Marines insignia except for the green beret which of course has to be earnt. In the UK, all cadet instructors wear a name badge in that position on the left breast which gives their name and rank. I wore one on all except No1 dress which the Marine Cadets only use on ceremonial occassions, whereas the Sea Cadets wear theirs on any parade or formal occasion. Medal ribbons are only worn on No1 dress. We also had to be positively vetted by the police in order to work with young people ( moreso in my case as I controlled an armoury with live ammo.) Airforce cadet at school, regular army ( Royal Artillery), and Sea Cadet instructor ( Drill Pig and shooting coach) - all three services!

Hmm I would have thought there would have been another reason. The sharpest drill I have ever seen was the "Kings Class" Royal Marines on their graduation parade. I have never seen any unit not even the Guards who could come close to them. At the time these were 17 year old cadets who were bound for sea duty with the RN. The Adjutant even road a horse on parade. |

Hi Art.
I agree on the Marines drill, but unfortunately it seems to be one of those things that new recruits in any service aren't taught so much nowadays. As cadet instructors we used it as a team-building exercise as much as parade training. As in the whole squad is only as good as the weakest link. I watch Trooping the Colour and other parades on the tele now and cringe! My old RSM would have had a coronary! As for the vetting - all in the UK that work with young people now have to go through this, but as an armoury controller I had to go through an extra process to ensure that I had no links with any subversive groups etc.

Hi Keith,
I thought that was maple syrup oozing from your pores that morning. I don't know what that white stuff on the ground is. When that picture was taken you were standing near the only CMP Ford in Oshawa - it's gone home to Windsor now. We were at Mel Norwick's collection, then located just north of the Oshawa airport. You may recall among the other CMP goodies there seeing the C8 with the Motley twin Bren mount in the back. Cheers, Brian |
