O.K. boys and girls, let's see who knows their geography. The following picture was taken in:

A) North West Europe, winter 1944
B) England, late autumn 1943
C) Northern Italy, early Spring 1945
D) North Texas, Feb 2nd, 2007, about 0600hrs

Any guesses?

I guess the Carpiquet sign didn't fool anyone. Yes, you're all correct...Hell has frozen over, it snowed here last night! and I mean real snow, not sleet or frozen rain like we usually get 'round these here parts.
I made the Carpiquet 1km. sign to try and add a litle character to my truck. Thought it would fit in with my 3rd Cdn. Inf. Div. impression.
I didn't have to work today, so I'm off to the fireplace and telly for a wee dram!

How can it snow in Texas? Well. it's snowed in the Florida panhandle before so I guess I can go with the amazing fact.

This was the scene out of our front bedroom window (New Forest proper at top of road beyond hedge) a year ago.

Hard to believe, isn't it? I think why we get such weather now and then is that the terrain between Texas and the Canadian Arctic is flat. There are no mountain ranges to provide a natural barrier to the incursion of cold air from Canada. Every year we get a "Blue Norther", as they call the cold north wind which brings inclement weather to North Texas. Fortunately, these weather events are short lived and the forecast for Saturday and Sunday are temps near 60F. Then I can get back to work on my petrol tank. I am now totally acclimatized to the Texas heat and I freeze my buns off when the temperature falls much below 55F. Hard on the chalfonts, y'know!

This is snap of my indoor / outdoor thermometer beside my computer a few minutes ago.

45.1C = 113.2F.

Not much outdoor work for me today. Thank God for air conditioning.
