The attached photo shows an Armoured Car in use by Allied Forces on the road to Harar, Italian East Africa (now Ethiopia) in March 1941. The armoured car has a home-made look about it just like the better a/cs made for the UK Home Guard, however it was not a one off, so must have been produced in Kenya from imported parts(?). The spare springs on the side must have been essential for the terrain, as Italian vehicles carried the same. Can anyone identify it?

Larry,
Icks and Crow (Encycl. of A/C) mention two turretted Kenyan built armoured cars , both from 1940: -Edye (rounded turret front of hull, rear wheels in rounded boxes, vertical radiator louvers) and -Fortress (rear wheels under hull, turret w Boys and Bren, vertical radiator louvers) Presumably most on Chevrolet chassis.
