Wondering how everyone is doing in Victoria in the MLU community. I believe the worst is yet to come for communities such as Swan Hill.
I know of at least one MLU'er who probably got wet feet. Hope it didnt get in the Dealership Scrivo or your Mum's place. Have you taken to the Dukw as the daily driver??? Hope youre OK and everyone who is experiencing rising water levels. Stay safe, the trucks can be fixed later........

Attached are pics of the Yarriambiack Creek which runs through the Victorian town of Warracknabeal, population 2500. Over 100 houses were saved from flood damage by a 7 km levee bank hastily constructed in two days. Richard Wilken, a local businessman organised the work and supplied much of the equipment. Richard is a quiet and humble man but is being hailed as a town hero. Women and children assisted in the filling of sandbags as most houses in danger were sandbagged as a precaution, also all the drainage outlets in the streets had to be sandbagged to prevent the water flowing back. Proves what can be done in a time of crisis by volunteers.
A mamoth effort! |

After just having to go through the flooding here in Gympie I wish our Victorian mates the best in coping with the rising waters and hope property losses are kept to a minimum.

Hi Guys
I am just home, have been sleeping either at the SES shed doing night shifts or at the shop during the day to supply diesel to the local SES.. I think its 9 days since i left for work last week, not been home since The Dukw was used on the tuesday night when we saved the power sub station, ferrying manpower, sandbags, food and water.. We also used the Dukw on a search and rescue opperation.. the missing Lady was found alive and well.. Thankfully no one has been injured in the floods.. Hopefully we have a couple of weeks to prepare for the next instalment, there is rain expected in the first week of next month and that could really create problems for our community So the last 2 weeks has just been training for what is to come. Thanks to everyone who rang and sent messages, was just very difficult at times to reply Tim |
