That snow thing is a GM Snowmobile. A 40mm Bofors Gun Carriage and Personnel carrier were produced, I think as pilot models only. There is an IWM photo of the gun carriage, MH6978. See Bart's original WW2 mv directory. Richard |

I could see it was something like that, but not the details. We'll have to add that to Sean's list of things to look for.

I have already purchased and sold on a copy of this Album froma guy in Oshawa as a matter of interest. I have scanned in all the official photos and they are available to any that want one. The printed photos are difficult to deal with as they need to be descreened. However as a source of the official GM of C photos it's excellent.

Alex, should you be successful in purchasing the manual, could I get a copy of the "roll of service" and if included in the book, the roll of honour? Thanks Bill

The manual arrived today... The Roll of honour is there along with the roll of service..(Oshawa,Regina and Walkerville plants) 64 pages of amazing photos.. I'll be taking this out this week to have it reproduced and will be able to get back to you on availability.. I'm waiting for one more manual to come(It's on it's way,David, should be here this week) so I can kill two birds in one trip.. The GM service bullitins are in now getting done and are amazing..Lots of good info that is not in the MB-C2. I'm trying to get a complete set put together ,but any bullitins before Sept.15 '43 are incorporated into the MB-C2..(Issue date for the MB-C2) This latest set that I have has about44 changes issued after that date so would not be in the MB-C2.. THe dates of the changes will definately help to ident existing GM products.. I am definately looking for more of these service bullitins to try to put together a full set... Any out there??? Contact me off line for manual availability.. ablairca@yahoo.com

Mr Manual[s], I am going to offer a financial contribution towards the copying charges as this is clearly going to help everyone! I know that the GM of C service notes have serial number changes in them and thus we can date and identify. A complete set would be of enormous value but even a reasonable set would be of considerable assistance.
I have of course already scanned in and copied every page of the photographs in the GM War Album and I descreened them. With your better Vegenite-powered technology you may get better results than I did. My Marmite-powered scanner did a good job though. I believe that the page with the desert scene trucks shows 1938/9 Chevrolets ordered through GM Near East, Alexandria, for the Trans-Jordan Frontier Police [see Wheels & Tracks] and also 1940 Model WA trucks ...the Water tanker may have been used by the LRDG in its infancy before the dedicated trucks [1941/2 Models] arrived. If we can get copies of those photographs made from the book I will pay for copies on a CD-Rom. However the shot of the bombed Southampton Plant is priceless to me....what a mess the Luftwaffe made and yet it could all have been repaired if the will had been there. Over 270 vehicles had been lost of which say 10 were Chevrolet sedans. |

David ..
I have the '43 service bullitins originals that I have done up and are exceptional..I am waiting for the '42 set to be available and will make that a priority now.. As far as I know that is the only ywo sets that were done as up dates to the MB-C1 and C2.. I will inform you when my set is completed.. The '43 set is packed with info not in the MB-C2.. Cheers
