I put forward an invitation to those who may be travelling to Corowa in 2008. The annual Yass Show will be held over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of March just a day or to before Corowa starts to wind up on the 10th.
The show is typical of this type of event held throughout Australia; there will be Sheep, Alpacas, fancy parrots a cow or two, cakes, jams and a sideshow too. As horse events will be thin on the East Coast this year a vintage tractor pull will be held over the two days with a bullock team also in the event. There will be a large display of vintage machinery operating over the whole weekend. Also on Sunday my favourite, the wood chopping; at the Yass show you are up nice and close to the action. The main public display day for military vehicles and cars will be Sunday 9th were people from the whole district will attend, if you are looking for a stop with a difference turn off the highway at the Yass sign and follow the signage to the show ground. Driver of a vintage vehicle will enter for free with passenger half price, you are welcome to camp on site overnight for $15.00. Need to know more just ask.

Yes gentleman Yass is on the way to Corowa if you are starting your journey from anywere on mainland Australia. To do this it is just a bit of planning to workout the roads you wish to use, for those that can read, a map would be a usefull item.
For those who prefer internet sites with printed directions just use the VIA function and type Corowa Via Yass (dont leave the Y out of Yass the internet directions will leave you with a sore neck) ![]()

Yes Yass has had a Highway Bypass for years now and it seems like all you blokes further along to Melbourne want one too. I note that Albury Wadonga your neck of the woods is very happy with their new bypass.
It does make the place nice to visit when you dont have 40 tons of truck every 20 seconds to worry about. ![]()

Mate, yes we have one of those new fangled bypass thingies too.
It does tend to keep the undesirables out of our quaint little town though. You have to remember though, we are just a little country town. We even have more than one set of traffic lights now. However, the bypass hasn't really impacted too much on the local infrastructure and the dynamics of the local economy in reference to expenditure of the forcast tourism dollar. It seems that the local industry has actually expanded once it grasped the fundamentalism of situational parity with the transport industry in addition to the Defence expenditure within the region. So yeh, the bypass is OK I guess.
