I wonder if you have the numbers/names of the Centaur CS IV associated with Q troop Right section of the 2nd RMASG? They were onboard LCT(A) 2428 (LTIN 1008) when it capsized on the morning of 6th June 1944 off the West Sussex coast. They now lay on the sea bed 20m below the surface and 8 miles offshore. I have been leading a diving survey project on these tanks and 2 armoured D7 bulldozers which were part of the 105th flotilla with Canadian troops from - "4 members from "HQ RCE 3 Cdn Div (Special Bulldozer Inc)" - "2 D7 Bulldozers Armd" 14 members from "18 Cdn Fd Coy" - "Car 5Cwt 4x4" 6 members from the "8 Kings A Coy" I have recently met a relative of one of the crew members but it would be good to hear from anyone else who has information about the events which resulted in the sinking. This year we are hoping to find the wreck of LCT(A) 2428 which I believe is several miles away from the tanks and bulldozers. I have attached a couple of photos but more details are on our diving club web site www.southseasubaqua.org.uk |

Firstly I don't knowingly have the names and numbers of those that sunk and were recently discovered. But so far this is all I have.
2nd RMASG Hood T185082 Hunter T186363 Hound Fox ( Sherman V ) 5th RMASG Seawolf T185075 Temeraire Tetrach Vidette T185102 Warspite T147535 ( Sherman V ) Ashanti and Assegai T185096 I am not sure to which of the above they belong. If anyone can add anything more to the above it would be appreciated by many. This a shot in the dark but with the exception of Tetrach ( so far ), all are named after British warships of various class. So..... Cheers Kevin |
