G'Day to our Kiwis!
My lovley wife Jo and a good friend of hers are heading your way this week.
She is travelling there to visit some (very) old friends.
Can anyone help with some cheap floorspace accomodation?
Or maybe meet up for coffee (

) & put some faces to some names.
They arrive in Aukland Sunday 4th & will travel through Hamilton, Taupo, Napier for a couple of days, Gisbourne, Whatakane, Tauranga & back to Aukland, flying out on the 10th. Their itinery is fairly flexible but they do want to stay a couple of nights at least in Napier where our friends live.
Any help will be appreciated, and remember, Jo is a CMP owner! She will only be there a short time this trip & I would like her to have as much fun as possible (on a limited budget). I know it is short notice but this idea only just occured to me now.

Jo is a wonderful, lovely woman personally known to me, who understands and accepts us and is well-deserving of your famous hospitality! Please do what you can for her!

Why stop at New Zealand..
This is a great idea and those of us that can should extend our hand around the world and offer floorspace at least to our kindred spirits..
This would be an excellent way also to support MLU and Jif with a little extra "Filthy lucre"...
All it would take is an invitation from a member AND a MLU membership card ,available from Jif at MLU action central or through our continental reps(once we get approval)..Hanno..Wingy...errrrr I mean Keith...and Jif hisself here in North America...
Membership card fees would be $10.00 year to join the traveling Co-op,but not restricting the MLU site in anyway to those that can't or don't travel..I think the idea has merit and will discuss this with his nibs in a few hours at Gracies Thrash..
There will be other MLU members there and a full report will be posted along with all derogatory pix of those that qualify at the thrash..The serving wenches ,with any luck may join the MLU traveling club ..but we probably need Clive to charm the ladies into joining but unfortunately ,he will miss tonight's episode ..in person..

G'Day Alex.
While there is no MLU card I think the recognition amongst the MLU community already exists! We have had a couple of members stay here over the last couple of years, (one fairly regularly) and we were disapointed when we were not home one weekend when a new visitor was travelling through to Temora. Thankfully Tony took them in for the night and their travel plans were not too disrupted.
Meanwhile, Jo has arrived safley a very wet NZ, has travelled to Hamilton, and by now should be in Napier, as long as she got through the snow(!) and road blocks set up by the cops looking for a gunman(!!)
Wednesday night she is staying with a generous MLU member (Thanks Rob!)

who has found some space in their house & in their lives for the weary travellers.

Therefore, I had better hold off on the Kiwi/Sheep jokes for just a week or so.
Bugger! Just realised I have to hold back on the Chev thing, too!

We would have offered a bed, but at present we are living in a caravan on site, as I build a house. Conditions are not that great, so maybe next time.

I talked to hisself at Gracies thrash on Friday night of my idea and he liked the Idea ..It would help to support MLU and be good for the rest of us that like to travel..
Hisself may jump in here with some more input into this project,including a list of members in the world with access to the list with names and addresses and contact info with a "Hidden" page accessible only to administrators and paid up members..
I was so sure that this project will happen that I wanted to have the Number one membership card,so I'm paid up ...but hisself..pig that he is claimed the Number one spot for hisself...making me number two again!!!
I am also number two poster on this forum...after hisself...being involved since day one..RATZ...!!
But we will hear more about this soon..

G'Day All,
Well, due to snow etc Jo has not made it to Napier tonight, but should be there tomorrow night to catch up with our dear friends.
Taking the alternative "long way 'round" has been a blessing, however. They have seen parts of the country they did not expect to and are loving it.
Expect them Thursday night, Rob. Don't forget Jo's famous self-saucing chocolate pudding!
Lynn, thanks for your note, and be sure to look us up if ever you feel the need to visit heat & flies.
Alex your project sounds good, keep us posted.

Josie (aka Jo, Joie, Pants) is now back on the firm soil of Australia.
Thanks to those that helped, offered help, or wanted to help; I appreciate it.
Hopefully next trip tp NZ will include me and will not be so rushed!

Wow, what a trip. To Rob, Lil & Makere (I hope I've spelt that correctly), Helen & I can't thank you enough for your wonderful hospitality. We loved every bit of our 1800km trip around the north island and being able to drop in on you on short notice was very much appreciated. Great company and fabulous food made for a relaxed and fun time. Hope to see you over here for Corowa sometime very soon. There will be a bed ready whenever you get the chance to fly over. To all forum members, I am continually in awe of the generosity that abounds from all involved with this forum. We've had several guys camp the night at our house, and my trip reinforced that generosity. 'What goes around comes around.' Fantastic!

P.S. Over the last few weeks, Howard has laid a new front path (which is apparently mine), built a new fence, taken charge of Sid and Errol and house while I was away and made progress on garden beds, earning him a grand total of 2, yes 2, 'Blitz points'. Not sure of the shelf life as yet!!

We enjoyed meeting you and Helen. I'm glad the trip home was uneventful. I can confirm that the snowfall in the North Island was the heaviest in 25 years. We rarely see the stuff here, and only in the high country in winter.

I was able to show our visitors one of our indigenous marvels, the weta, see below.
This is what Weta Digital of "Lord of the Rings" movie fame is named after.

Hey Howard, you may have got plenty of work done unsupervised, but now I have people on my back to complete the shed extension, and a myriad of other projects around home!

I can say to all MLU its a pleasure to be able to extend hospitality in our far off corner of the world. I hope we get the opportunity to see more of you!
