| Wanted: Ford Exhaust Manifolds X2

Hi all, I haven't logged on for a while as the large government department that I work for won't even let me look at MLU any more. My F15A is slowly coming back together and I need some exhaust manifolds, as the original are both cracked. I would probably prefer new ones made from modern materials, as I would expect them to be stronger. Is there anywhere in Australia to get them, otherwise the strong AU$ will send me to the USA. I am also looking for a front step that is not worn through , and tow hook spring hangars, but that might be optimistic. cheers Eric

| V8 Exhaust Manifold Bolts

I started to remove the old cracked exhaust manifold bolts and some are a very strange size. They are not 9/16 inch or 14 mm. What size are they? Help

They will be whitworth bolts. The thread is nearly the same, just the bolt head is bigger.

Just a thought!!!! I was talking with Lloyd McCarthy last weekend at the Walker MV Swim in at Bundy and in passing conversation I was talking to him about his gun tractor restoration. Anyway he mentioned that he did away with the original V8 exhaust manifolds and fitted a set of exhaust extractors/headers. He said that there were a number of reasons to modify but in particular the engine now runs cooler and the heat is taken away from the cab. I am not a scholar when it comes to CMP 's but this may be an option for you. Cheers John W. |

| V8 Exhaust Manifold Bolts

It looks like the exhaust manifold bolts are 5/16 BSW. I have borrowed some spanners and sockets to do the job, and I should be able to pick some up at the local sunday market. There are always second hand tools to be found there. The headers seem like a good idea, especially for cooling in the cab. I have heard of fitting insulation to the engine cover for this reason. I might seriously look at the headers, even though the purists might frown.

| Blitz exhaust manifolds

I should be able to help with exhaust manifolds. The RH ones are all the same, however there are 2 positions for the exhaust outlet on the LH side John.
