Look what they did to my jeep

Hi Guys

Have a look at the attached photos and see what they did to my poor old Jeep, seriously though, the re-enactment group were short of vehicles for an upcoming event and a couple of us Jeep owners were told. " your vehicles are now Captured Vehicles and have joined the Axis Forces".

Now my question is, did this sort of thing happen to Jeeps in WW2. I kind of feel strange in my Jeep now. Looking at both photos, I like the original one better.

Oh Tony!

I strongly suggest those swastikas come off before ANZAC Day.

I already see the newspaper headline:

Man with Nazi symbols on Jeep, meets his end outside RSL Club; as irate WWII veterans drive their motorised scooters over him repeatedly.

....................right in der furhers face!

No worries mate, I can assure you they will not be there on Anzac Day. Actually they are magnetic. I woudn't dare go within Cooee of the RSL, I would drummed out of the regiment.

Certainly, the German Armed Forces relied heavily on captured vehicles, Jeeps being among them. Here's an example: http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ad.php?p=54868

Luckily they did not dress up your jeep with swastikas nor nazi symbols. But IIRC those German crosses (still in use today!) were only used on armoured vehicles.

Hi Hanno

Thanks for the very interesting site, this confirms captured Jeeps were used by Axix forces. That should make the Re-enactment guys happy as to the authenticity on the day.
