Restoring a Canadian Built 25 pdr

Hi All

Our group the Garrison LHG is restoring a Canadian Built 25 pdr. During this process we have collected some auxiliary bits that we cannot identify I am including two photographs one is a numbers cover. Can anyone twll me what is is used for?
