Another 6 pdr

I was very fortunate recently to add these to my collection. The 6 pdr only needs a few parts to complete, a shoulder rest, spare parts box and the cocking sleeve from the striker case.

The Bofors needs restoring but is fairly complete, just needing sights and tyres (don't they all). I do have three Firestone ground grip so am hoping to find a forth to match.

I would be very grateful to leads for any parts.

Good score on the 6 pdr. That is one gun that is on my "want" list for sure.

I have most or all of a stukey sight for the Canadian Bofors as a spare. Shame you are so far away and it is so heavy.

Possibly. But unless the container is coming from Manitoba, you are going to be paying shipping twice over. If the container was coming from somewhere like Southern Ontario, you are talking about approx 2500 kms. The sight assy isn't going anywhere, so if some shipping does come up, with a bit of advance notice we might be able to work something out.

I'll post some photos in a week or so once it warms up a bit. Right now it is -25°C out in the shed, and it is stowed behind the HUP if I recall correctly.

I am looking for a M2 105mm howitzer breech ring if you want to work out some level of a trade. A cut one is fine, as long as I have something to work with.

Hi Rob: If things work out I may have a container going to the UK. If I can get the scratch together for the HJ project we may be able to move the Stookey stick sight to Ottawa from Shilo then onwards.

Adrian, if your making a spare parts box for your 6 pounder would you be willing to make two as I need one too!

Actually Mike, you may be able to help on this question. I've found some variation in the parts boxes and I suspect it may be down to country of origin.

Most of the ones in the UK have a small catch that was common on music cases and the like whereas some have the sprung toggle that was US in origin and was similar to the one used on Sherman etc. I suspect the latter is Canadian and the former is British.

I can provide either catch but would like to get it right.

My gun is Canadian made so I would prefer the Canadian style. Could you possibly send photos so I can get a good idea of the differences?

Mike, this is the style that Dusan made and the catch matches this gun which I think is in Canada. Sorry about the image quality!

The other style is, I think, British production.

Just to clarify, the gun outside is in Canada, the odd coloured one is in the Littlefield Collection.

A friend of mine has a container with Artillery parts shipping from the USA to the UK in the next few months. I can ask him if he's got space.

I find there is a lot more scrutiny on items crossing the US/Cdn border than items from overseas. It is a bit of a crap shoot, which I don't like playing on items that are hard to replace. I believe it comes about as part of the US/Cdn arms smuggling initiatives.

An example of this is ebay, where many Canadian buyers will bring items in from Europe rather than the US. Apparently on occasion the US has even seized Lee Enfield stocks in the mail that were leaving the country without the required permits.

Now if we were in Mexico, we could have just added the goods to the "Fast and Furious" manifests.

Mike's idea is a good one. If the HJ purchase comes to fruition this upcoming summer, it can easily be added to the load.

The real question is, is the box itself genuine?

Hi,
this is our original box with catch. As you can see the bottom rotted away. We found very similar catch which after a little bit of work looks the part.
We cannot find the box now but when we do I will post dimensions or tell someone from our group to take measurements of our replica box on the gun. (the gun is stored now 50km from where I live)
