Carrier Wave Camouflage

Disruptive wave camouflage can be seen on some news reels on both Loyds and universals in NW Europe. If you looks closely at the Loyds in villiers bocage stills they are painted that way. Would disruptive have ever been painted on a base of OD or only on the earlier service brown?
When painting on the dark waves it looks like the entire canvas is painted black, did this happen on soft skins aswell? I fancy following a villiers bocage scheme on mine as I haven’t seen a Loyd painted anything other than single colour.

When a second, darker colour was applied it was normal for the entire upper horizontal surface to be the darker colour. It helps the camo effect a great deal.

As Tankbarrel says, all upper surfaces were painted in the darker (black) disruptive colour as not to reflect light. Also sharp corners and edges to break up the shape. Commonest known as Mickey Mouse pattern, maybe using the wave pattern on larger vehicles.

Here I see another good one, showing the tilt camouflage. This is a late war Loyd judging by the T number, this disruptive scheme was still being applied by some units.

According to Mike Starmer, it seems that the dark disruptive patterning sanctioned by MTP46/4A which was first used on vehicles in overall KG3 or SCC2 continued to be applied to vehicles painted in overall SCC15 by some units. The patterning could be SCC14 (black) or SCC1A (very dark brown).

Disruptive painting was only banned for U.K. based vehicles when SCC15 was introduced.
