Default What is it?

This was brought back from WW2 by a tanker. He gave it to a buddy of mine who left it laying in his tool box for 30 years and now he has given it to me. Is it part of the tool box for a specific vehicle? There are no markings whatsoever. I know what it does just not what it is for or is it just generic?

Oil syringe used for adjusting the level in recoil buffers in British tanks. Part of the gun kit and stored in the 'Box, gun parts and tools'
