T-16s FOR SALE
I have acquired six T-16 Universal carriers. They are in my posession and are located in Chandler, Arizona. Prices will begin at $8000 and down depending on condition. Pictures of the vehicles will soon be on the web site: museumofmilitaryhistory.org, or you can call me at 602-421-0858
These are the last of the T-16s that were at Southeastern Equipment approximately 12 years ago. The rest were scrapped at that time.

The "green one" is actually the best hull of all of them. Someone started to strip it to restore it. It will come with a NOS rear axle, and all the parts necessary to make it complete for $8000. There are two other people looking at that one right now. That price is FOB Phoenix Arizona.

Actually, I sold the third one in the line. Although the first one is stripped down, it comes with a new rear axle, tracks, engine , trans, etc. everything necessary to make it a complete swiss vehicle. This hull is actually the cleanest with the least amount of rust. And it is almost ready to sandblast!

Already talked to him. He needs the lower hull with the drivetrain in order to make a Maultier truck or halftrack. I guess he made one already and it turned out pretty good.

Seems like a waste of T16 parts

Now, if only the Maultier actually used Universal Carrier parts, I could see the point of the conversion. But if you compare with the picture below, one can see there are substantial differences. Do some reenactors have lower standards of authenticity than others?

Here in the States, you would not believe how low the standards are of some of the reenactors. It is unbelievable how much effort they will go through to turn a CJ into an MB.
I guess the idea here is, they were made from captured Bren carriers?? What do I know?

No, they are not components taken off captured Bren Carriers. I'm sure the basic suspension system was used as the basis for the Maultier design, but if you take a second look there are too many differences. They simply are not the same parts.

Two years ago I discussed this at Beltring with Baron Paulus von Hocking and David Herbert, and it was concluded the Germans must have manufactured parts for the conversion of trucks as of the Ford V3000S Maultier alone some 14,000 were built, with another 4,000 or so of the Opel Blitz variant. Much larger numbers than could be catered for by cannibalisation of captured British AFVs.

Also, there are engineering differences in track, sprocket and road wheels (see pictures of a surviving Ford V3000S Maultier). Although I have not seen a Maultier in the flesh we did find a Maultier road wheel for sale on one of the stalls at Beltring and noted it was much wider and of entirely different construction than the standard Universal Carrier road wheel - not a surprise when you know Pz.I/II track was used (instead of Carrier track like popular belief has it). Possibly only the bogie casting was copied, although I wonder if that would pass a gründlich scrutiny by German engineers - remember the answer the German Army got after asking German industry to copy the Soviet T34 tank?

I can see from the photos that there are a lot of differences between the Maultier and carrier track systems. But i guess for reenactor purposes, it is close enough. I had a guy here in the States who wanted to buy a complete vehicle so he could use the drivetrain to make a Maultier style truck. But when I told him they had all the armor , he decided against it.
I wonder why you got an e-mail directed to me?
By the way, are you going to go to Beltring this year?

As an update,
The first three T-16s are sold. I am getting another rear axle in a couple weeks, so I will be able to complete one more vehicle. However, the rear plate where the axle was cut out needs repair. This one will sell for $6000

I'll have to see if I can get away from work for Beltring, plus I need to find some friends to camp out with (Beltring on your own is no fun).
