Default Locating pickup bed strips (UK)

Hi

Slightly OT so my apologies

Someone I know is restoring a couple of civvy 50s/60s Chevy pickups, and he's looking for the correct profile steel strips to go in the rear bed area. They are available in the States, but due to the length required (8ft 1") they wont ship at a reasonable rate. Does anyone know where they can be bought in the UK?? we wondered if they feature on military trucks, hence I said I'd pop a post here on his behalf..

thanks

Rick

Rick,

Those strips look remarkably like the one fitted to the British Army Bedford MK / MJ / TK cargo trucks, also AEC 10 tonners, I think. I used to work on them are can remember fitting these strips. Might be worth talking to a body builder to see if they are available in UK, also you could try Marshalls of Cambridge, as they built the bodies for army Bedfords.

They look much the same as the ones in the Dodge cargo beds.
Stateside they are available in steel and stainless steel and the special bolts are as well. the British? one ton trailers also have a similar set up.
