That is the cab ( don't know what's under the snow) of a 1950's GMC M135/M211 6x6 21/2 ton truck.

Yeah, that looks like a Deuce-and-a-half. Old girl, piece of crap... I've had one spinning all wheels in two inches of snow, on the flat. CMP 3-tonners were better than that...

It was huge..... It had massive diesel powered snow blowers mounted on the front. It was being used to maintain the "ice road" from Inuvik, NWT up to Tuktoyuktuk on the Beaufort Sea.

Lots of unusual vehicles up there, such as this Bombardier.

Bruce Parker, of this Forum, spent some 3 years in Iqaluit.

He took some pictures, and posted them here, of lots of CMPs just dumped into the tundra.

Perhaps if you search variously, you'll find the pics.

Ever think of the possibility of having local boys take off some of the rarer parts.....smaller parts.... to ship back South...??

Could be a profitable project... might even qualify for Federal subsidies..... think of smaller are to come by parts.... probably not heavily rusted..... even a survey of available serial numbers for David Haywards data base.....

Let's see: New Brunswick and now NWT are off limits? That only leaves us 2.9 million square miles. Kinda limits us, don't cha think...
