From your last BIG picture you seem to have the early heavy cast Chevrolet front axle.... which means it has no bolted front cover and a lot of extra reinforcement ribs cast into the axle housing.
The Ottawa Rotters have two of those... one on a Chev cab 13 and one on a Ford F15a........ The Caldwells have a Chev gun tractor and a Ford ab 13 GT... museum in Kars near Ottawa has what is left of an early cab 11 Chev........ and I forget his name now but someone was advertising, on the forum, a Cab 11 GT for sale in the Vineland area.... who remembers the postings...?? But it is the first time I see a Ford with both front and rear axle being from Chev...... if the axles are original you may have a very early model cab 11...... If you need to explain something or ask a complicated question in French send me a personal message on the forum and will try to help you out. I am currently working on a Chev cab 11 and a cab 12 in the future...... The sad part Eric is that parts that you are looking for are always missing on a CMP Cab 11/12.... be patient headlights do surface every once in a while......like original side mirrors in Brasil!!!! Don't rush..... let the addiction take it's course...soon you will be buying another one for parts.....etc..... Welcome to CMP land..... Bob Carriere A.K.A. Kapt'n Nacho.........

I don't have Ford CMP production figures but I wonder if the Historical Adviser at Ford of Windsor does? I don't know whom it is now as Sandra Notarianni has retired. As to how many had Chevrolet front axles, well I believe, and I am probably wrong, that all 1940 Ford Gun Tractors had Chevrolet axles front and back, and all Ford F60H 6 x 4 lorries had Chevrolet front axles that year, so that leaves most of the 1940 Ford 4 x 4 lorry and truck chassis. Whatever it is an early CMP, but not the very earliest as it has cab louvres whereas the earliest did not have any ventilation holes or louvres.

I just nticed the louvres on the cab 11 are different to those on a cab 12, to see the difference look at the 12 cab in the pass plate thread

if that truck came from new castle, then it very likely served with the North Shore N.B. Regiment. if i were you i would be hitting the legion with some photo's of your truck and asking some of the lads if they remember it...who knows, maybe one of them has pictures of it, or possibly used it then. having the history of your vehicle first hand makes it even more special. mon grandpere et deux oncles travaille don le Regt Nord Shore Nouveau brunswick 1939- 1946. pardon my french, it's not that great. mike |

All that pounding made for great blueberry crops in latter years. Ironic that the Minstry of Transport (Doug Young Minister and MP for that neck of the woods at the time) was pressured by some of the locals to close down the ranges to air to ground firing. This being done, we could no longer entice folks from Bagotville, USMC, USAF and the ANG to come play against us (birdgunners). In the end, 434 Squadron left Chatham for Shearwater and the Air Defence left Chatham just prior to its closure. So, now the Tracadie locals have less noise to put up with, and more blueberries to munch, while Chatham/Newcastle (now Miramichi City) lost millions per year out of the local economy. More Liberal logic...

Col Murray Lee was the Base Commander when he wrote this book. His good sense of humour (having an army unit on an air base - one would require one) and sense of fair play won my respect. I treasure my autographed copy of his book, which reminds me of some mischief pulled when I "retired" - a story for some other day...

Bienvenue, North Shore!
I sent you a PM regarding the square badge for your hood. Mac`s Auto Parts in NY has them, although they are listed as a trunk lid emblem from a mid 1930`s coupe I believe. I don`t have my Mac`s book handy as I am currently in N. Quebec. When I get back south I will look it up with some contact info. I occasionally come across items such as the lights, brackets and various other cmp parts that you may be looking for. Don`t panic, as items will come available. Do the smart thing and buy stuff up as it comes, otherwise you may regret passing them up. There are a few gun tractors restored here in Ontario that I am sure you could get pics and dimensions from. There is one that was at the last get together in Chatworth, ON that had been restored and had the entire rear body reproduced. Maybe worth a trip to Ontario sometime...

Yep, Alex, thats the one I`m talking about.
I`m terrible with names and always forget that fellow. I know he did excellent work on his truck and fabricated much of the body for it. Maybe Walter will have it up again at CC6?

No specific mention of any Blair activity in the book, but the local sherriff remembers a toublemaker by that name...As a point of interest, my father was posted to St Maggies. My brother and I ran a roadside bait shop selling night crawlers. Business was good, but the customers (being airmen with way too much time on their hands either fished or golfed or both) were always complaining about holes dug in the fairways...
