If the K30 was a 30 cwt or 0,75 tonne, then I have production figures from Longbridge Plant. I have the other Austin trucks figures as well.

http://www.the-blueprints.com/index....s-a/9017/view/ Interesting: the Ministry of Suppply contracted for the truck to be rebuilt in 1945, and it was then issued to UNRRA. We have seen that rebuild plate before on MLU! Figures: 1938-9 539 1939-40 509 1940-41 6 1941-2 65 Last edited by David_Hayward (RIP); 13-09-07 at 23:11. |

The Austin K30 30 cwt truck was built with open topped cab, 4625 were built between 1939 and 1941. Superceded by K2/YF 2 ton truck with closed cab. If this truck bears a chassis number confirming it to be a K30, then it was probably rebuilt with a K2 cab.

Interesting about the production figures...the ones I have are the official Longbridge ones, and show an overlap with the 2-tonners.

| Re: Figures Quote:
This was a direct quote from Bart Vanderveen's original Fighting Vehicles Directory. He also stated that between 1939-45, 14,685 were produced, meaning both K30 and K2, I think. Elsewhere in the book it states 13,102 K2 ambulances were produced between '39 and '45. Now do these ambulance for part of the 14,685?

| Re: Austin K30/Y Quote:
From your Contract number, I can tell you that the WD census number on the truck was one of a batch; L4474336 to L4475035. It is listed as a 30 cwt truck. Looking at the plate, it would seem that some of the later K30 trucks had full metal cabs, whereas all references I have seen in the past are of canvas top cabs with no doors. I think this was one of the last contracts of 30cwt Austins.

This is the Chassis, or Makers serial number for the truck. The "quote" means this number should be used when ordering parts, etc.

Hi Radek, the starter plate is actually for the "choke", though they refered to them as starter devices. The same plate is fitted to Daimler Dingos. Cheers, Dave |

| Re: GS brass lable Quote:
This is only a guess, but I have come across "AF" cast on many Austin castings and believe it stands for Austin Foundry. This could be a serial number for the casting, so they could check on numbers produced.
