G'Day all, I have landed me another truck, this time an F60S! (A project for Sid!) The owner reported that it had a tipper body on it when his father bought the truck off my Grandfather, and the engine cover plates confirm this. Afterwards, the tipper body was removed & the truck converted into a semi. The truck is missing any tray. Also missing the toolbox & spare carrier, which the previous owner has never seen. Transfer case was removed shortly after original purchase. The farmer at one stage broke a tooth off the crown wheel, so the crown wheel was removed from the front diff & installed into the rear. He tells me the front wheels are not original (I assume the tippers had civilian type wheels?) after an altercation with a tree stump bent one of the originals. So, on to some photos!

Congratulations, Sid! I'll bet your dad is sorry now he sold so much s&#t from the shed Not many chaps your age owning a 3-ton army truck. Howard, of course the crownwheel from a cab 12 will do the job as will of course the transfer case. The wheels on the later F60S tippers were normal 8 stud truck dish type with duals on the rear. Time to get dad to put the hard word on Tony to retrieve the bits you need. Yes, a later type tipper, although it has the relatively rare '43 pattern front shell with just 'FORD' on it. Was there an ARN?

Or in your case 'Gottium'. Well done - they look like they'll make good patterns. Interesting to see the gun tractor bonnet - the lack of a 'glovebox' means it probably came from another front shell - mix 'n match. ARN 162581 is more consistent with a tipper No4 rather than a FGT.

| Trailer brakes first.

Congratlations Sid & Howard. Seeing the trailer brake control brought back memories of the pole trailer I drove when I was about ten and having to remember the heading phrase this was most important when loded. The truck was a 1949 Bedford and the pole trailer had a Ford blitz axle housing and blitz wheels with 1200x20 tyres.

I think it's a body number of some sort. 39Q is the code number for a 1943 model. I have 39Q/81/6145 on my F60L. Curiously, this cab back doesn't have any provision for door latches, nor the later Aust canvas door style latches??

Also, my F60L (ser 146364) is from the same contract and very close to your serial (No 146749)!

Great Truck, Sid & Howard, congrats! Seems you have your work cut out to get it ready for the Year of the Blitz 2009. But I'm sure the two of you can manage - looking forward to drive it! H.
