OK Humber described it, in their wartime adverts showing armoured vehicles, as the Super Snipe engine. It was originally made for the Super Snipe car, then adapted for use in Commer and Karrier trucks, Humber Scout and Armoured cars as wll as the smaller Humbers, like the 4x4 utility, recce, staff cars, ambulances, etc. Not normally refered to as a Rootes engine though.
