Default 1942 jeep up for auction

Hi All

A friend of mine rang me to advise that there was a 1942 Willys Ute up for auction by SHANNONS AUCTIONS as a classic vehicle. I googled Shannons Auctions and found the vehicle listed with photographs giving the Chassis Number 249751 Engine Number 18254. There is no reserve and asking guide between $7,000.00 and $10,000.

Now I have recently restored a genuine 1942 MB Willys Jeep and I note with interest that there there are a number of obvious differences to my 1942 MB Jeep. I suspect that there are a number of non 1942 genuine parts that were used.

I am only a novice in restoring vehicles, but if it is not a genuine 1942 Willys Jeep as stated then the seller is doing us genuine restorers a disservice. And not reflecting the true price of our vehicles.

You will see below SHANNONS AUCTIONS write up of the vehicle. I am very interested in what my fellow MLU Jeep owners comments would be after they have Googled the site and checked the JEeep details and photographs. Maybe someone in NSW knows of the vehicle.

SHANNONS REPORT ON THE JEEEP
- fully restored
- Registered to May 2012
- NO RESERVE

A nicely restored example of the famous Willys Jeep, this car came out of Clark Airbase, Angeles City, Manilla and was shipped to Australia in 2007. Partly refurbished when it arrived on our shores, the restoration was completed in Australia. As part of the restoration process new wheels, tyres, brakes and a new-old stock interior were fitted. The Willys comes with some receipts and is registered in NSW until May 2012. This vehicle is now being offered with no reserve due to engine failure (water found in number 1 cylinder).

Note: Shannons advise that all potential buyers research all vehicles before purchase to authenticate

Cheers

Tony
