Importing a Carrier to Europe

Who has experience with the import off a carrier to Europe ?

Are there any restrictions ?
Under with category does it fall ?
With tax duties are involved ?

The reason I ask is that I would like to import one but I have been told it will not be handled as a "normal" oldtimer.

So what's your experience ?
Each country within Europe has it own rules on the subject so it would be interesting to know what the differences are.
Maybe it easier and cheaper to do it through the UK and than transport it to The Netherlands. Maybe not.

Who knows more ?
