Are those big round holes in each side of the division plate?
Was this a flame thower carrier? I have never seen a riveted carrier without the rectangular holes (N.Z. never had MkII* carriers as far as I know) I imagine this is a late hull. The british MkIII had no ducting at the division plate, and the air still went through the rectangular holes at the rear, but then it went up through a vertical duct. My guess is this carriers hot air just exited through the top of the rear engine cover infront of the rear plate. Like most things, they evolve. This may still be a MkII*, but maybe a late one.? Thanks for the photo. Very enlightening.
