Thanks for that.

Really interesting.

I am intrigued by 50's era crashes for some reason. They seen a relative unkn publicly but there were many.

I stooged around the net and found what may be the a/c you saw:

Nice info at that link with some photos and there is a PDF for Google Viewer there with news articles, pics and crew info.
