Lieutenant-Colonel David Niven fought a o in Normandy and was awarded Legionnaire of the Order of Merit. He had attended Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and served in Rifle Brigade.

His batman was Peter Ustinov.

James Stewart served in US Airforce and received Air Medal and DFC. I think he ended up Brigadier-General.

Lee Marvin fought in USMC and was invalided out with a Purple Heart.

President Lyndon Johnson was awarded the Silver Star. I do not know why.
