Default External Bracket- Drivers side F15-A

Good Day All,

Just inquirng what is the purpose of the bracket shown on the attached photo?

It is mounted on a F15-A that I recently purchased for parts.

It is the first one I have actually seen on a truck and have only ever seen a picture of one as shown in the attached AWM photo. That photo doesn't show anything being held in its bracket either.

Checking the transmission serial number and ARN's it appears to be a 1943 F15-A "Battery Staff" truck. Just like the AWM photo it had a sunroof but that had been filled in with steel. Sadly, it lived a long time near the sea so most of the steelwork is severely rotted away.

All info gratefully received.

Cheers,
