Hi all,
I recently read a post here on MLU about modern OEP-220 transmission oil destroying Bronze bushes in our vintage military gearboxes and diffs.. To that end I made time today to drop all the OEP -220 oil that I put into my Gearbox, front and rear differentials & winch last summer (7 months ago) and was alarmed by the amount of bronze “gold leaf” coloured slick effect that came out of my gearbox and winch ![]() I don’t know if I’ve now destroyed the bushes within the gearbox and winch ... as I don’t know how long the OEP 220 takes to dissolve bronze ... there was certainly a lot of bronze at the bottom of my oil bucket ![]() Please check your pride and joys and if necessary change your oil to an appropriate classic oil (I need to research a good oil) Please see pictures attached .....I hope I haven’t wrecked my bronze bushes! Kind regards, Mark Towers |
