I like it too, just wished I knew what it was. A search of vintage coal scoops and ash scoops shows somewhat similar civilian items. It is way too heavy to merely be a dustpan. The glossy olive drab would lead towards it's use into the 50s. I may clean up the markings and get a better idea of the company name.
I remember we still had the chimneys in the H-huts in Dundurn that would have had coal fires in the base to heat the barracks. This was back in the 70s....the majority of the wood H-huts are gone now and just a few of the sandstone huts remain. |
