Great find with the old photos, Bruce.
I had not considered extending the length of the spring steel strip to curve around the inside edge of the door frame like that. That would greatly reduce the chance of the open end of the strip snagging on clothing and getting bend or broken. Especially when the door was open and the strip relaxed. David
